The body of work entitled #CLOVERDUST is composed of several facets including but not limited to creative writing, social media posts, photography, and short video clips to create original characters with which viewers can interact via QR codes. Alexandra uses her own body to create these characters and adorns them with original costume pieces and prosthetics. Her work is created in the tradition of Cindy Sherman who takes on a range of personas; Matthew Barney, who creates outlandish characters and costumes; and Genevieve Gaignard who explores the duality posed by her mixed-race identity.
She is the curator and creator of the hashtag #CLOVERDUST, a fictitious world focused on the Clover Dust Hotel in which her original characters as well as those other artists create may live and interact. Already, she has fifteen individuals creating their own characters for the hashtag. Through the use of this hashtag, she aids others with the development of their own characters while adding to the overarching storyline of the Clover Dust Hotel. With the use of social media and QR codes, Alexandra hopes to continue to explore and build upon these ideas as well as the various avenues presented by the Relational Aesthetics movement.
